About Magh

40 Years of MAGH and Its History – A Proud Milestone for the Malayalee Community

Since 1986, Malayalees who migrated to Houston recognized the need for a unified platform to preserve their cultural identity and stay connected. Under the visionary leadership of Sri K. H. Philip (President) and other pioneers, the foundation was laid for what would later become the Malayalee Association of Greater Houston (MAGH)—a cornerstone for cultural, social, and community engagement.

Early Years & Formation

In the early 1980s, Malayalees in Houston began organizing informal gatherings to stay connected. By 1983, structured efforts emerged through the formation of the Kerala Club, marking the beginning of organized community activities. In 1986, these efforts culminated in the formation of a formal association that united Malayalees under one umbrella. From its inception, MAGH focused on preserving Malayalam language, cultural traditions, and community unity among expatriates.
